Mexico City, January 30 (POLITIC MESSAGE / DIGITAL CIRCLE).- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador celebrated the release of activist Miguel López Vega in Puebla at his morning press conference, and assured that there will be no political prisoners in his administration.
“On social networks there was talk that he was the first political prisoner of the 4T. I am glad that we do not have political prisoners. They have already released him, I celebrate it, we do not want there to be political prisoners, zero political prisoners, zero torture, zero massacres,” he said.
López Obrador announced that both Víctor Manuel Toledo, Secretary of the Environment, and the head of the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples, Adelfo Regino, will go to Puebla to personally attend to this matter.
He added that the issue of the indigenous leader, who fights for the Nahua communities to preserve the Usos y Costumbres regime, has to be addressed by Puebla Governor Miguel Barbosa.
The leader had been imprisoned a few days ago in a Puebla prison when he went to deliver an assembly act where the Usos y Costumbres system is defended, in addition to natural resources and its territory.
