The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, announced that in the framework of the 45th edition of the Tianguis Turístico México, which took place in Mérida, Yucatán, last week, he held a working meeting with executives from Iberia , which led to the announcement that this airline will increase its flights between Spain and Mexico.
He specified that as of April 2022 its operations between the two countries will increase from 14 to 17 each week and in June they will reach 19 weekly flights.
The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) pointed out that during 2020 the arrival of Spanish citizens to Mexico was 100 thousand 23, which generated an economic spill of 99 million 207 dollars.
He added that, from January to September of this year, the volume of Spanish travelers who arrived in our country was 143,443, which generated a spill of 159,978,000 dollars.
He also indicated that Iberia occupies the number one position, both last year and in the first 9 months of 2021, as the European airline that transports the most passengers from Spain to Mexico.
He explained that Iberia leads this list with 75,452 passengers transported in 2020; followed by Air Europa, with 13,329; Evelop Airlines, 8 thousand 893; and Wamos Air, with 3,971.
