Hernández will intervene as coordinator of the Socialist Territorial Group of the Canary Islands
Canary Islands, June 14.- The senator for Fuerteventura and coordinator of the Socialist Territorial Group of the Canary Islands, Paloma Hernández, has registered a question, to obtain an oral response in the plenary session next Tuesday in the Upper House, about the roadmap of the Government with the scientific project for the installation of the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) on the island of La Palma.
Hernández, who will formulate this question to the Minister of Science and Innovation, Pedro Duque, is committed to relaunching the candidacy of Roque de Los Muchachos to house this important scientific facility, since its geographical situation and its meteorological characteristics make it one of the best enclaves for stargazing.

“In addition to the unbeatable conditions for contemplating the sky, we add the facilities shown by the island’s administrations to expedite land concessions and administrative licenses that allow the development of works in different municipalities,” he highlights.
The group of senators from the Canary Islands underlines the importance of continuing to position the island of La Palma as an alternative to the initial location of the project in Hawaii, and they hope to have the full support and commitment of the Government of Spain to place the country at the forefront of knowledge scientist.
